The Six Characteristics of Top Performers: Maturity

In this series taken from our Effective Interviews and Selection workshop, we continue to look at the typical characteristics of top performers, this time:

Maturity.

  • Personal responsibility for actions.
  • Foregoes short term rewards for longer term benefits.
  • A common sense approach.

Maturity has nothing to do with age. Mature people recognise that what happens in their lives is due primarily to their actions and not forces beyond their control. They know their strengths and weaknesses and they recognise that they too can make mistakes. In an interview the mature candidate will openly discuss their successes and failures and what they haved learned as a result.
